Nothing makes a birthing experience more positive than being prepared. We want the birth of your child to be special and we encourage you to be an active participant in your care.
Memorial’s family-centered maternity unit and birthing center offer childbirth education classes to help you and your coach understand what to expect through labor, delivery and recovery. You’ll learn relaxation and breathing techniques; comfort measures; and medication and anesthesia options. We also teach you the basics of newborn care and how to take care of yourself once you get home. These classes are taught by an experienced obstetrical nurse
and are offered in both evening sessions (two hours a night for six
weeks) and two-day weekend workshops (eight hours of instruction
total). A three-week advance registration is required. |
