HospitalistHospitalists at Memorial Hospital of Union County are board certified physicians who are devoted exclusively to caring for patients while in the hospital. They do not have office practices. When directed to do so by your primary care physician, a hospitalist provides your comprehensive medical care during your hospital stay, from admission through discharge. During your stay, the hospitalist consults your primary care physician and keeps him or her informed of your progress. At the time of your discharge, the hospitalist briefs your primary care physician regarding your treatment and outcomes of your tests. After your discharge, you will return to the care of your physician. At the time of admission to Memorial Hospital, your primary doctor contacts the hospitalists to inform them of your condition and treatment needs. Your primary doctor provides us with information about your illness and health history. Throughout your stay and at the time of discharge, the hospitalist taking care of you will communicate with your doctor. Upon discharge, written information will be forwarded to your doctor’s office so he/she will have a record of your care and treatment during your hospitalization in order to continue your medical care. The Memorial Hospital of Union County hospitalists provide your primary care physician more time to devote to seeing you and other patients in his or her office practice. Hospitalists, because their practice is focused entirely in the hospital, can minimize patients’ wait time for tests, medication changes, consults and discharge. Without the demands of an office practice, hospitalists are more readily available to keep you and your family informed regarding your progress. Availability:
