Parish Nursing and Health Ministry
As part of our ever-expanding efforts to make a difference in the lives
of those in Union County and the surrounding area, Memorial Hospital
created the position of Parish Nurse and Health Ministries Coordinator.
As an outreach to the community, the Parish Nurse and Health Ministry
Coordinator bridges the gap between medicine and theology by helping
local churches establish a Health and Wellness Ministry for their
congregation. Health ministries focus on whole person health,
recognizing that an individual's spirituality is a key component of
good health.
Disease prevention and health promotion are two areas of practice
within the church. Health bulletin boards, health fairs, and screening
for high blood pressure and diabetes are a few examples of outreach
within churches. Programs are often conducted on topics addressing the
physical, mental and spiritual health of a congregation.
